During the consultation for dimpleplasty, Dr. Vasant Gholave, Director of Arra Aesthetics, Pune, will examine the patient’s face carefully. He will ask the patient about the position, shape, size, and depth of the dimples they want. He will plan the procedure meticulously, and discuss the procedure in detail with the patient to ensure that the patient will be satisfied with the results.

At Arra Aesthetics, a dimpleplasty is performed in the following steps:
Step 1: The surgeon administers local anesthesia or general anesthesia.
Step 2: The surgeon then makes a tiny incision on the inside of the cheek. The incision is usually around 2 to 3 mm long.
Step 3: The surgeon removes a small amount of fat and muscle from the cheek to aid in dimple creation.
Step 4: When there is enough space for the dimple, the surgeon sutures one side of the cheek muscle to the other.
As long as there are no complications, the patient can go home the same day as the procedure. Generally, the patient will be able to resume their daily routine after a few days.
Mild swelling on the cheeks is expected after the procedure but the swelling will naturally fade away after a week. The patient can apply cold packs to the swollen areas if the swelling is severe.
For the first couple of weeks after the surgery, the newly-created dimples will be constantly visible. After the third week, the dimples will only appear when the patient smiles.
The patient is advised to have a post-surgery follow-up with the surgeon after a few weeks so that the surgeon can assess the results.
Dimpleplasty or dimple creation surgery is a relatively straightforward procedure. However, like all surgical procedures, there are chances of complications like:
